Dear Parents/Carers,
I would once again like to thank those parents who were able to attend our Listening Assembly, held on the evening of the first day back at school. I met with members of the P&F Executive last week to go through a process of listing the 10 key recommendations for “Things to hold onto” and “New ideas to consider”. The list is outlined below and will form a significant part of our work as a community over the next three - five years. Some will require you, the parents, to take care of the work, others the staff will need to take responsibility for. Many we will do together.
A leading education writer, Starratt, imagined the dynamics of school life like an onion (Starratt, 1995:pp 47-60), with layer after layer of onion skin, level after level of school life. The outer layer of school life represents surface happening, then each layer is peeled away to reveal organisational matters, programs, goals, beliefs and finally the inside layer reflects the culture of the school. The core of the school “onion” holds what is considered to be sacred fundamental values. The Listening Assembly enabled our community to peel away the layers in a way that reflects our culture and values and from the list below are many activities that will help our community to live those values. From time to time I will report on our progress in responding to our key focus points, both new ideas and those aspects we need to continue with.

It is crucial details are up to date for compass alerts, consent to events and for the school to make contact with parents when needed. Phone numbers and email address' can be updated via the compass parent portal. For any other changes, please notify the school office in writing.
As consent for all events is now fully electronic, we ask that parents give consent to events promptly.
If your child has not received consent by the closing date they will unfortuantely be unable to attend and if the event is offsite will remain at school.

In Weeks 3/4 the students at St Paul’s have been learning, I can accept other people’s choices. Sometimes other people make choices that can make us feel frustrated and we need to accept their choice even if we don’t like it. What we need to do is stop, think and then choose what to do and how we respond in this situation. Sometimes this can be, not what I want, but that’s okay.
We encourage parents and caregivers to work alongside us with teaching children to accept choices that other people make. Children can express in a respectful manner that it may not be what they want, but we need to accept it and that’s okay.
Truth Love and Faith Awards
This award reflects the vision towards which the school consistently strives, that which is embodied in its motto of Truth, Love and Faith. It is through the motto that students are continually encouraged to strive to do their best, therefore deeply embedding the ongoing spiritual, academic and social interactions students have each day whilst at school.
The Truth Love Faith award is the formal recognition of students’ commitment to Catholic learning, belonging, celebration, hope, respect and justice. This includes achievements, appropriate behaviour and consistently doing their best.
The Truth Love Faith Awards will be presented to students in Terms 2 & 4 and will be followed by recipients attending a morning tea with Mr Reardon and Mrs Brunetta.
The Truth Love and Faith Awards in Term 2 will be Thursday, 8 June 2023.
