Dear Parents/Carers,
As we begin to move towards the end of the year, with this come many deadlines, planning for 2023 and still keeping the focus on the students and their learning. In light of this, it is now the time to prepare classes for 2023. I believe this is best determined by the students’ current class teachers as they know your child best in the class setting and playground.
There is a clear process that needs to happen to ensure there is an element of balance when it comes to forming classes. Our main goal is to have a balance in gender and ability in all classes. A letter explaining this in detail is attached.
The following protocols MUST be adhered to when making a request for class placements in 2023:
- All requests must be in writing and followed up with an appointment with the Principal. This gives time to discuss requests with class teachers. Asking the class teacher to follow up your request on your behalf will not be acceptable.
- We ask that you do not request your child be in a particular class because of friendships. Children need to build resilience and a way to do this is by building new friendships. In addition, the class teacher will know if there have been issues this year.
- Requesting specific teachers is also not a reasonable request. Again, the notion of teacher shopping creates an imbalance in classes.
- Ultimately, the decision concerning class placements must rest with the Principal and class teachers as we know your child in the school setting which is often very different to the home setting.
- Keep any request to a minimum of two children you would rather your child not be in the same class due to social issues from the past. Anything more than this is unreasonable and would indicate that the problem is much deeper than other children.
As Term 3 draws to a close, I wish to take the opportunity to thank all of the students, parents, staff & extended members of the St Paul’s Community for a very successful term and wish you all a safe and relaxing break!
Enjoy the break and go gently,
Go gently,
Michael Reardon

Mission Day Launch
During October, the Catholic Church celebrates 'Mission Month'. This is an opportunity for us to recognise the life-enriching work of missionaries around the world and give back by sharing their stories and joining a nationwide fundraising effort.
On Tuesday, 13 September 2022, William and Tabitha, our school captains accompanied Mr Reardon and Mrs Debrincat to the Diocesan Launch of World Mission Month. We celebrated a beautiful liturgy led by Bishop Brian and watched an inspirational video about vulnerable children in Ethiopia who are at risk of malnutrition and facing food insecurity.
On Sunday, 23 October 2022 donations can be made at every diocesan church including St Paul's church to support Catholic Mission. We were able to raise $2415 earlier in the year to support Catholic Mission.
Prayer is also an important means, in faith, to reach out to our brothers and sisters who not only need material support but also spiritual support to live life to the full.

Congratulations Amelia
Recently, Amelia (Yr 5) participated in a kids for cancer fundraiser. Below is a speech Amelia has written about her experience along with the link to her fundraising page.
Amelia's Fundraiser- Kids with cancer
Good morning, St Pauls, my name is Amelia. I would like to talk to you about a fundraising process I am doing for charity. The two charities that I am supporting are Wigs for Kids and Kids with cancer foundation. The wigs for kids foundation supports children who are being treated for cancer by giving them wigs which are made of real hair, to help those kids who have lost their hair because of their treatment. They accept donations of real hair which are made into those wigs.
The kids with cancer foundation is a charity that has supported nearly 2,500 families who have children who are being treated for cancer, raised $23 million dollars for hospitals and funded 186 medical jobs.
On September the 6th, I am going to be cutting off most of my hair. I am going to donate my hair to the wigs for kids as I would like to do something nice for someone who is struggling through their treatment. I hope that it makes them feel a little happier.
I am also doing this in the hope that I can raise some money from cutting my hair to donate to the kids with cancer foundation so that they can buy better equipment and help support families that are in financial situations due to their children receiving treatment .
I am grateful for being able to talk to you and would ask that if you would like to donate some money to my fundraising, please come and see me as I have a donation webpage.
Thank you
