Playground Behaviour Expectations

SPB4L - is a whole school systems approach that supports academic and social needs of every student to be successful. This promotes positive and high expectations for all in our school community and supports the well-being of all students.

At St Paul’s, we value safe and inclusive learning spaces. As such, we teach students rules and expectations to help them thrive, connect and succeed at school, at home and in the community.

Since the playground is a different structural setting to the classroom, playground expectations were created to ensure we provide our students a safe and happy playground for all.

These playground expectations were created to support the three school rules - be safe, be respectful and be responsible. A playground rule reminder/redirection book was also created to ensure students are understanding what is required of them. The yellow slip is a reminder that they need to be safer, more responsible or respectful on the playground. Parents can use this as a further learning opportunity to have an open conversation with their child about respectful and safe interactions in the context of the school playground.

Students have been explicitly taught these rules and are revisiting these with their teachers. To assist students in their understandings, the playground expectations are also displayed in each playground area.
