As the students come back to school this week we will be focusing on re-establishing strong routines within the classrooms and across the playgrounds. This helps to maintain an environment that is safe and conducive to learning.

- Explicitly teach the children the routines for playground and classroom to the students
- Continually revisit the routines with their class.
- Hand out free and frequents to those students who are following the routines.
- Hand out tokens on the playground for those following the playground routines.
- Re-direct students who are not following the routines as per SPB4L expectations.
|
- Show appreciation by using their manners… eg thank you.
- Work with their peers and teacher when revisiting the routines.
- Try their best at all times
- Follow the classroom and playground expectations.
|
- Speaking positively about the school’s SPB4L practices, especially in front of their child/ren.
- Use redirections as a parental teaching opportunity for their child/ren
- Praise children when they get free and frequents or verbal praise.
- Allow students to create their routines at home to get ready for school by helping with:
- Laying out clothes the night before to be ready for school
- Help with putting things in their lunch box
- Getting the students to unpack their bags when they get home.
Praise children when they follow the home routine.

Trying to establish a morning routine for kids that actually works may seem in the beginning like a lot of effort, but with time, practice and praise (like everything we do with SPB4L) the effort made will be well worth it.
