Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Day
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder affecting the lungs and digestive system, making it hard to breathe and absorb nutrients. It is caused by a gene mutation that makes mucus, sweat, and digestive juices thick and sticky. This leads to lung infections and digestive issues.
It’s symptoms include chronic coughing, lung infections, and difficulty gaining weight. None of these symptoms are contagious!
There is currently no cure, but treatments like medications, physiotherapy, and nutritional support help manage symptoms.
Why are we sharing this information?
We are proud to support one of our own students, who lives with Cystic Fibrosis. Our student is an inspiration to us all, showing resilience and strength every day.
In Term 3 (date TBA) we will be holding a “Wear It Red Day” to gain a greater understanding of CF. (More details to follow next Term)
