From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are racing towards the end of the term with teachers finalising mid year reports, which are currently being reviewed by the leadership team before coming to Mrs Brunetta and I for one last review before they are electronically posted in week nine. As you can see, the reporting process for schools is significant, time consuming and can be quite a stressful time for the class teachers. In addition to this, appointment times for parent/teacher interviews will go live this week for you to schedule either a zoom or face to face meeting. One of the points we have listened to from the Listening Assembly was your wish to have greater flexibility concerning the format of the parent/teacher interviews. In some cases, parents may feel that the report is best processed with teachers face to face, whilst others, because of their busy work schedule, like the option to have a zoom meeting instead.

I also wish to share with you some good news concerning a further enhancement to our playground space. As all are aware, our playground space is somewhat limited and due to this, in recent years we have tried to further enhance options for play available to the children. The creation of the sandpit and the lego play tables are examples.

Last year we received a grant of $50,000 from the Campbelltown Catholic Club to go towards the construction of playground equipment. We have gone through a process of tender and design to come up with a design that will enable the development of students' fine motor skills through the creation of climbing apparatus. The final budget is in the area of $100,000. The P&F and school funds will be used to accommodate the shortfall.  The 3D picture below outlines the final design.  It will be constructed just to the right of the back gates between the gate and the “Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible” pencils. This is to minimise the amount of playground that will be lost in the installation.

The groundworks preparation will occur during the term 2 school vacation, however, the area will be fenced off for approximately 8 weeks whilst the project is finalised, which will have an impact on entering the school next term from the Larkin Place site. The back gate will be unavailable.  Due to this, the plan is to have the Larkin Place gate entrance into the Heritage Hall as the entry point, along with the John Street Gate entrance to the Heritage Hall. Whilst this may cause some inconvenience, the benefits students will receive from the playground equipment far outweigh the short term challenges the installation will cause.
