School Crossing Supervisor

Transport for NSW have assigned a school crossing supervisor for the crossing on John Street. Families walking their children into school from John Street must use this crossing.  Below are further instructions from Transport for NSW.

Crossing safely to and from school
Parents and carers of students at St Paul's Catholic Primary School are advised to set a good example and standard of road safety for the students when going to and from school. Please always cross the road at a designated pedestrian crossing to prevent likelihood of an accident. At crossings with a School Crossing Supervisor, please abide by the following rules to minimise any potential risks:

1. If the School Crossing Supervisor is by the side of the road, please wait behind them, or on the footpath if you are at the opposite end of the crossing.
2. When the School Crossing Supervisor enters the crossing, please wait for them to reach the middle of the crossing before starting to cross.
3. Please follow all instructions and signals from the School Crossing Supervisor.
4. If you have any bikes/scooters, please walk with them when crossing rather than riding them through as this poses a danger to other students and pedestrians.

If you are driving a car during school zone hours:

1. You MUST stop if the School Crossing Supervisor is signalling that they will move forward onto the crossing, and if there is no School Crossing Supervisor, you must stop for students to cross.
2. You should not continue to drive through the crossing until the School Crossing Supervisor has left the crossing and has signalled for you to continue.

School Crossing Supervisors are at the crossing for your safety but will not put themselves at risk to mitigate hazards if you are putting yourself into danger by not following their instructions. Please also understand that the School Crossing Supervisors are trying to minimise traffic at the crossing, but this may occur occasionally in an effort to keep young pedestrians safe.

If there is no School Crossing Supervisor, please cross the road safely by looking left and right and ensuring vehicles have stopped before crossing the road and supervise your children closely when around roads and traffic.
