From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents/Carers,

As we draw closer to the end of the year my mind has begun to wander back to how the year has been for us as a community.  One of my personal goals this year was to have our community re-engage with each other again through our social events.  With help from the P&F, parent community and staff we have managed to bring back most of our community events: St Paul’s fete, Grandparents Day, P&F meetings, Athletics Carnival, School Disco, whole school masses and our Christmas story concert, held during the last week of this term.

To make all this happen underpinned by a love and fidelity to our St Paul’s community calls upon what I call a christian vision for work. With this comes more unpaid than paid work being done, both by parents and staff. This is because for us our view of work is the creation of people living in harmony, the dynamic evolution of God’s creation.  If we strive to work with each other as cooperative partners, not as competitors, then we truly contribute to God’s creation. Unless we promote the sacredness of our work together in the creation of community at St Paul’s, the work becomes a list of tasks we just tick off.  The beauty of our work together is that it is largely created in fun, laughter, family and friends time. Our community events assist the school from being “sucked in” to the whirlpool of overscheduling, ad hoc policy focus and external accountability, which are the enemies of creating communities of the heart.

I’m so glad our community events are back!

Go gently, nearly there,

Michael Reardon

Good News Story

My name is Audrey. I’m 11 years old and in year 5. I’ve been growing my hair all year hoping to raise more awareness and some funds to donate to the organisation called ‘Cancer Council #rockthe chop'. I have been fortunate enough to have raised almost $3000 and I will be donating my hair on 10 December, 2022.

Like most people, cancer has affected someone I know, who suffered as a child from leukemia. I am hoping the donations I earn will help those with cancer get better and for my hair to make a little kid with cancer more confident.
